Spotify
If you're anything like me, you're probably listen to music 24/7 and actively seek out new music. I'm an avid Spotify user and I was able to bring some of my ideas to life during my free time in quarantine during COVID. These designs were made via Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
Order Your Playlist.
Music is meaningful to a lot of people in many different ways and plays a key part in many relationships. It’s hard to give the gift of music when it’s been intangible for the last 10 years. Todays modern version of making someone a mixtape is compiling a Spotify playlist, but it doesn’t seem as meaningful when there is not a physical element. So, what if you could order your Spotify playlist on vinyl? or mixtape? or CD?
Spotify could take advantage of the surprising comeback of vinyl records and build upon this movement by offering, not just vinyls but mixtapes and CDs. A Spotify user could essentially make a playlist and then order it on one of the three options - or perhaps all three. The user could upload a customized cover or allow Spotify to help create a custom cover from a multitude of preset options. This allows Spotify to leverage the want for tangible music, while also keeping in mind the importance of customization to Millennials and Gen Z.
Your Friends’ Favorites
I love discovering new music. The Discover Playlist does an amazing job of introducing me to new music, but Spotify has another element that I find exciting. When I first became a Spotify user, I was in awe that I was able to see what my friends were listening to while using the desktop app. It was yet another exciting way to find music I hadn’t heard of yet. I’ve always wished there was a playlist that compiled the music they listened to.
Your Friends’ Favorites would be a playlist composed of frequently listened to songs of the individuals a user follows. This playlist is convenient especially for Spotify users who use the mobile app more than the desktop app.
Your Music Memories
We love to look back on memories and many social media platforms allow us to do that. Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat show users their memories each day from previous years. Why not do that with music?
Have you ever heard a song and said something along the lines of, “This reminds me of the fall semester of my Junior year in college”. Music has the ability to bring us back to certain memories and times in our lives.
Much like the Your Summer Rewind playlist, Your Music Memories would essentially be a playlist full of songs the Spotify user was listening to a year ago on that date.
